Age 94, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2012. She was born on March 20, 1918 in Dallas Township the daughter of John and Regina (Ott) Schmitt. Mrs. Spitzley was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. Mary was devoted to her faith, especially the rosary, as well as the Miraculous Medal. She married Leon H. Spitzley on February 17, 1941, and he preceded her in death on July 2, 1994. Also preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Louis, George, Julius, Martin, Fr. Albert, Herman, Isadore, and Tony Schmitt; son-in-law, Eugene Gross; 3 grandchildren; 1 great grandson. Surviving are her sons, John, Marvin (Jeanette), Ron (Teresa), Fr. Denis of Concord, Delbert (Susan), Francis (Linda), Brother Bernie, SVD, of Jamaica, Mark (Sheryl), Michael, and Luke (Shelley) Spitzley; daughters, Mary Lee (Mark) Schafer, Dorothy (Leon) Pung, Germaine Gross, Stella (Vernon) Pung, and Rita (Mike) Owen; 42 grandchildren; 65 great grandchildren; sister, Clara Wirth; brother-in-law, Joseph M. Spitzley.
