Mary Lou Koelkebeck (nee Burris), age 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2014.
Beloved wife of the late Harold Louis Koelkebeck; loving mother of Gail (Jim) Doarn and Ken (Janice) Koelkebeck; cherished grandmother of Mary (Matt) Bowersox and Laura (Chris) Vanderloo; Erin and Daniel Koelkebeck; devoted great-grandmother of Elle Bowersox; dear sister of the late Don Burris.
Mary Lou married Harold Louis Koelkebeck on June 19, 1948 and remained united until his death in 1993. She was a graduate of Clayton High School and Washington University, where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She was a teacher at Central Institute for the Deaf and retired after 30 years in 1984. Mary Lou was an active volunteer with various organizations including P.E.O., B.R.O., Grace United Church Food Pantry, St Louis Zoo, and James S. McDonnell USO.
