Mary Jane Slade, nee Jines, of Davisville, MO passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 2 days. She was born December 8, 1934 in Sikeston, Missouri to Arley and Alta Smith Jines. On December 21, 1959 at Valley Mines, Missouri, Mary was united in marriage to John Michael Slade who survives of the home.
During the years of her marriage to Rev. John Slade and while he was pastor, she attended the Church of God Allenton in St. Louis County, MO and later the Church of God in Union, MO for approximately twenty-five years. Where ever her husband attended or was the pastor, Mary followed him. For many years, Mary and her husband gave of their time as missionaries to the Indian reservations in Arizona and other locations out West.
She is survived by her loving husband, Rev. John Slade of Davisville, MO; two sons, John Michael Slade Jr. and wife Rita of Union, MO and Jeffrey Lynn Slade and wife Karen of Byhalia, MS; one daughter, Susan Michelle Higgins and husband Shannon of Republic, MO; seven sisters, Georgina McCoy of Dade City, Fl, Pamela Sawa of Richmond, KY, Norma Burns of Festus, MO, Barbara Brown of Farmington, MO, Peggy Wilkins and husband Charles of Lakeland, FL, Sherilyn Okeima of Las Vegas, NV and Nancy Rhinehart of Ste. Genevieve MO; and one brother, Ronald Jines of Plant City, Florida; four brothers in-law, Harold Slade and wife Joan of Davisville, MO, Joseph Slade and wife JoAnn, Thomas Slade of Spokane, WA and Bill Gahr of Fenton, MO; five sisters in-law, Janet Farrar of High Ridge, MO, Janice Shrum and husband Ronald of Sikeston, MO, Earlyne Seaver and husband Bill of Fairfield, CT, Jean Setzer of Cuba, MO and Bertha Slade of Topanga, CA; four grandchildren, Joshua and Timothy Slade, Rebecca Mendenall and Kaylee Higgins; other relatives and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ira O’Benauer, Robert Jines, Richard Eugene Jines and Jerry Clark Jines; three sister, Virginia Arlene Morgan, Shirlene and Charlene Jines; eight brothers in-law, Hugh “Mac” McCoy, Fred Sawa, Stanley Burns, Howard Brown and Robert Rhinehart; Larry Farrar, James Setzer and Homer Slade; and three sister in-laws, Joyce Slade, JoAnn Gahr and Betty Neely and husband Don.
The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Honored to be casket bearers were Kirk Rhinehart, Ronald “Bud” Jines, Shannon Higgins, Joshua Slade, Charles Wilkins and Timothy Slade.
