Mary Dell Wickham, 74, of Eldersburg, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Carroll Lutheran Village following an extended illness.
Born March 25, 1938 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late P. Harvey and Mildred B. Dix. She was the wife of Robert Davis Wickham. They had been married for over 53 years.
Mary Dell graduated from Milford Mill High School in 1955 and from Towson State Teachers College in 1959 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. She then began her life of adventure and world travel when she married Robert “Bob” Wickham who is now retired from the United States Air Force. After a career of teaching kindergarten for the Department of Defense, she worked as a bookkeeper for the family business named the Dixie Horse and other businesses such as Champion Printing and the Rouse Company.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter Mary Ellen Wickham of Eldersburg, son Robert David Wickham and wife Jennifer of Hanover, PA, son Matthew James Wickham and his wife Masami of Belleville, IL. She is also survived by sister Margaret V. LeVee and husband Guy, Ann D. Filbey and husband Gordon and sister-in-law Alyce Wickham. Also surviving are grandchildren Sean, Marie and Austin Wickham, 5 nieces, 2 nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by brother-in-law William J. Wickham.
