Davis, Mary Combs Segoine, passed away surrounded by family February 10, 2023. She was 97 years, 5 months and 12 days young! She is preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters, a brother, a granddaughter and her husband of 64 years, Noel “Skip” Davis.  After Mary graduated from Wheelock College in 1947, and Skip returned from the Pacific (WWII), she married Skip and taught primary school at The Anne Page School on the Wellesley Campus in Boston.  Mary and Skip spent their summers canoeing and camping until Skip’s graduation from MIT in 1949.  After his graduation, they moved to Gates Mills, Ohio and started their family. They spent many years in Chagrin Falls, OH where Mary worked with both the Boy and Girl Scouts.  Mary chose to stay at home raising her children and supporting Skip’s entrepreneurial endeavors.  Mary shared her love for science with her children’s elementary school classes. After their move to Minnesota in 1974, she was active in Wayzata Community Church, Bible Study, Circle, and worked on their rummage sale. Higher educational opportunities for women in need was also a passion Mary was actively involved in promoting through Wheelock and other organizations. She was an avid sailor, skier, golfer and bridge player into her 80’s. After her own children were grown, Mary chose to share her love of children by being a “Granny Nanny”.  She loved working with families who had multiple young children, sharing her wealth of knowledge in child rearing.

Mary’s love of reading was a way of filling the hours of her final years. She was rarely without a book, and inspired a love of reading in many people. Mary is survived by her children; Holly, Noel Bryant “Brye”, Heather and Laurel “Laurie”, their spouses, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grands, and 4 great-great grands.
