  • Date Of Death: December 12, 2021

Mary Alice (Davis) Walker was born on February 22, 1936 in Jackson, Tennessee.  She was the seventh of nine children born to Johnny B. and Lelar Davis.  She was educated in the Gary, Indiana public school system.  Shortly after graduating from Roosevelt High School, her parents migrated north to Detroit, Michigan seeking better opportunities in the auto industry.  Mary was united in holy matrimony to Kenneth Walker on August 1, 1956.

Mary soared at various jobs until she landed at Great Lakes Mutual and subsequently North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company as an office manager.  Under her tutelage, she guided and trained many people to be successful in the business office.  Mary ran a tight ship.  She was affectionately known as being “worse than the FBI” by her colleagues, because of her no non-sense work ethic and ability to balance agent accounts right down to the penny.  She worked 36 years with North Carolina Mutual until her retirement in 1998.

Mary was a world traveler, went on a countless number of cruises and enjoyed traveling with quite a few travel clubs.  She loved fashion and was always fashionably dressed to kill.  She loved to dance and listen to music and founded the Charisma Social Club.  She especially enjoyed attending yearly family reunions and did so for nearly 40 straight years.  Her outgoing personality and infectious smile would brighten any day.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, (5) brothers, Pete, John, Charles, Earl and Marvin, and (1) sister, Carrie.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband Kenneth Walker, (1) daughter, Carolyn Walker and (1) grandson, Xavier Davis, (1) brother, Herman (Martha) Davis and (1) sister, Shirley Keegan, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends, including her BFF Marjorie Frank.

Mary Alice (Davis) Walker departed this life on December 12, 2021 peacefully in her sleep.
