Marvin W. Ericksen, 71, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at Lakewood Health Center in Baudette, MN following failing health since May.

Marvin was born on August 27, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to Marvin and Marie (Wheeler) Ericksen. He attended Grade School, High School and two years of college at DePaul University all in Chicago.

At age 19, he started his 32 years of service for Jewel Foods as a Manager and meat cutter. On November 28, 1959 he married Louise Iavarone at St. John the Baptist Church in Roseland, Illinois. They have two children, Susan was born in 1960 and Robert was born in 1962.

In 1985, Marvin and Louise purchased Ken-Mar-Ke Resort in Baudette, a dream of Marvin’s for many years after fishing in Minnesota at Lake Kabatogama. Marv enjoyed and loved fishing and guiding charter boat for 19 years on Lake of the Woods.

Besides his love of fishing Marv enjoyed hunting deer and bear. Marv has 4 Granddaughters whom he loved very much, and shared his love for fishing with them. He was always there to help them with homework, rides anywhere they needed to go, Friday night suppers and to patch skinned knees.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Louise, at home in Baudette, as well as his children Susan (Gary) Crohan, Tinley Park, IL and Robert (Wanda) Ericksen, Baudette, MN. Granddaughters, Kelsey Wallace, Katelyn, Ashley and Kendall Ericksen. Sisters, Shirley (Stanley) King, Highland, IN and Janice (Lowell) Blake, Rogersville, TN. Three nephews and one niece, Karen (Paul) Pobereyko, Munster, IN, Steven (Cindy) King, Helotes, TX, Jim (Angie) Blake, Rockton, IL and Chris (Amy) Blake, Elburn, IL.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents.
