Martin Walter  Niewald, 87, of New Haven, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Mercy Hospital, Washington, Missouri. 

Martin was born in Rosebud, Missouri on March 22, 1928, the son of the late John L. & Edna M. (Wehmeyer) Niewald.

He was united in marriage to Dortha (Hiatt) Niewald on May 15, 1965 at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Haven.  Dortha preceded him in death on December 11, 1982.  He later married Wilma Walkenhorst on April 9, 1988 also at Trinity Lutheran Church.  Wilma survives at the home in New Haven.

Martin  is  survived by a daughter, Dottie Niewald of St. Louis, Missouri; by five step daughters, Barbara Shaffar, of Houston, Texas; Nancy Najjar & husband Craig of Katy, Texas; Carolyn Scheer & husband Larry of New Haven, Missouri; Linda Kaskadden & husband Kenneth, of Hermann, Missouri; and Katherine Weiser & husband Tim,  of Anna, Illinois; by three step sons Jack Hiatt, of Houston, Texas; David Hiatt & wife Kathy, Indianapolis, Indiana; and Dennis Oberdieck & wife Joyce, Dardenne Prairie, Missouri, a sister, Ruby Hoehne, & husband Emil,  of Kirkwood, Missouri and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Dortha, two brothers Emil & Oscar Niewald and two sisters Frieda Hoemann and Ruth Hoehne.

Martin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Haven. He started out his working career farming and then went to work as a carpenter for New Haven Lumber Company. In his free time he enjoyed wood working and working with his hands, gardening and playing the harmonica.
