Marlis J. Glennen, mother to Jerry, James, JoAnne, Jack, Joel, Jeffrey, Judy and John Dahl, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 22, 2023 at Lifecare Roseau Manor.
Marlis Joan Carlson, was born in Ross, MN, to Melvin G. and Julia M. (Bottem) Carlson on August 15, 1932. She grew up in Palmville Township attending both the 44 West School (High School in Roseau) and Palmville Baptist Church. On February 5, 1949, Marlis married Alfred Dahl in Wannaska. She later married Clifford Glennen on July 28, 1975 in Roseau County.
Curious and intelligent from a young age, Marlis was always asking questions and never lost this sense of wonder. She was a homemaker, worked at the hospital as an EMT/nurse, avid reader, loved antiques (having her own shop), photography (winning numerous ribbons at county fairs), traveling to just about anywhere but, caring for her family was most important to her.
Known for her cheerful good-nature and patience, Marlis will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Marlis’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing.
Marlis was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Owen, Gordon and Clifford Carlson; sister Verna Sellars; sons, Jerry, James, Joel and Jeffrey Dahl; daughter Judy Stavenes; husbands Alfred Dahl and Clifford Glennen.
She is survived by daughter JoAnne (Roland) Anderson; sons Jack Dahl, John (Bette Allison) Dahl; twenty grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
