Age 45, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 5, 2015. She was born on January 2, 1970 the daughter of Clarence and Marie (Hengesbach) Schafer. Marla was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Westphalia, and a member of the Christian Mothers Society. She enjoyed the mother/daughter weekends away and watching her sons in their sporting events. One of Marla’s favorite sayings to her family went like this: “How much do I love you?” Response: “more than words can say and higher than numbers can count.” “But who loves you more?”Response: “God”. Marla was preceded in death by her father, Clarence and a niece, Katie Trierweiler; Surviving are her husband of 24 years, Brian; sons Trevor, Logan and Kyle; mother Marie; mother/father-in-law Bernice and Roger Thelen; siblings Dan (Jane) Schafer, Duane (Judi) Schafer, Bob (Marie) Schafer, Mark (Nancy) Schafer, Karen (John) West, Terri (Frank) Trierweiler, Diane (Mike) Pohl, Jeff (Annette) Schafer and Lisa (Rick ) Aungst; in-laws Maureen (Gary) Schafer, Yvonne (Tom) Trierweiler and Loren (Shannon) Thelen; numerous nieces and nephews, special friends Katie Pohl, Shannon Thelen, Robin Wirth and Bill Clark. A special thank you to Dr. Steve McGraw and Dr. Cynthia Vakhariya; nurses Rhonda Proctor and Staci Pierson and all of Marla’s kind and compassionate caregivers (Kristen LaFave) from Great Lakes Hospice.
