Age 97 of Hopkins MN, formerly of Plymouth, MN passed away on August 30th, 2013 following a courageous battle with cancer. Mark was born in St. Paul, MN on June 7th, 1916. He served in WWII with the 440th Troop Transports before earning a commission as a Lieutenant with the 3rd Army 90th division. Prior to shipping overseas, Mark met the love of his life, Dorothy Bournique, of Closter, New Jersey and they were married on June 14th 1947. Mark had a 50 year career with Horner Waldorf and Champion International Paper serving most of his time as a top packaging sales representative. After 60 years of marriage, Mark was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy in 2008. Mark is survived by his children, Steve (Marci) of New Prague, Paul of Woodbury, Martha (Jeff) Weber of Lake Zurich, Il, David (Angie) of Plymouth; grandchildren, Jessi, Matthew, Amanda, Mark, Caleb, Liam and Keira; great grandchildren, Kylie, Brock and Braden; as well as many other loving relatives and friends. Mark was a long time member of both the Church of St. Bartholomew and Holy Name of Jesus Church. He was an avid golfer and outdoorsman. Throughout his life Mark was generous in both time and money in support of various charitable organizations. Following his retirement Mark pursued numerous volunteer opportunities and was recognized by the Literacy Council for his work with teaching English as a second language. Into his early 90’s he remained active as a volunteer at the Plymouth golf range. The family would like to give special thanks to his Hospice nurse Amy, Hospice aide Karen, Sister Janet Stelken, Gentle Touch at St. Therese Southwest, Dorothy’s Daughters and golfing partner Don Carsten for providing comfort, care, and compassion.
