Marjorie Elaine Smith, 87, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home September 20, 2016. Marjorie was born in Ionia County September 10, 1929 to the late William Helmes and Rosa Mae Helmes.
She attended High School in Ionia Michigan and married Joseph Bernard Smith January 3, 1948. She started her working career at Holly Carburetor in Portland and worked for 17 years at the Chrysler Trim Plant in Lyons where she served as a Union Steward and Vice President of the local union. She proudly served as a member of the Women’s Auxiliary VFW Post 4090.
