  Marion J. Carrison, age 86 of Mankato, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at her home.

  Marion Juliet was born on January 7, 1935 to Leo Clifton and Lydia (Munk) Gillett in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada. She graduated from Roseburg High School in Roseburg, Oregon in 1952. Marion then furthered her education at Williamette University in Salem, Oregon, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in 1958. In 1960 she earned a Master’s Degree from Scarritt College in  Nashville, Tennessee, and a second Master’s Degree in Library Science in Denver, Colorado in 1962. On January 28, 1962 she was united in marriage to Dale K. Carrison in Denver, Colorado. Marion and Dale lived in Colorado for a short time before moving to Mankato, Minnesota to raise their family. Marion was a Director of Christian Education at Trinity Methodist in Denver, Colorado, and later at Centenary UMC in Mankato for many years. She also served as Adjunct Faculty at Mankato State University. Marion was a member of the National Toothpick Holder Society. She enjoyed reading, needlework, especially hardanger and cross stitch, traveling, and playing her dulcimer. She loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Marion was a devoted and wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be greatly missed.

  She is survived by her husband Dale Carrison of Mankato; daughters, D’Ann Carrison of Mankato, Josette (Lars) Larson of Madelia, Jolene Smith of Hobart, Indiana; 4 grandchildren, Abagail Eldridge, Jonas Eldridge, Jarred Smith, Cailyn Smith; great-granddaughter, Karmen Smith; by many other relatives and friends.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Lydia Gillett; sister, Shirley Gardner.
