OSSEO – Marion Hellen Chappelle, 101, of Osseo, died Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Oakridge Nursing Home in Osseo.
Marion, the daughter of Theodore and Minnie (Severson) Myhre, was born April 10, 1914 in the Town of Sumner, Trempealeau County, WI.
Marion attended Oak Grove Rural School and graduated from Lincoln Hill High School in Osseo in 1931. She attended the Eau Claire Teacher’s College for one year and received her Rural School Teacher’s Certificate. She taught 10 years at rural schools in Trempealeau County at Norway Valley, Oak Grove, Russell and Tappen Coulee.
In November 1942, she went to Washington, DC where she worked as a cost accountant until 1958 when she became a computer programmer and computer systems analyst, retiring in June of 1973 after 30 years of service at the Government Printing Office.
In October 1993 she moved back to Osseo.
Marion is survived by her sister-in-law, Helen Myhre of Osseo; 18 nieces, 8 nephews, many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Daniel, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters-in-law.
