On April 3, 2023, Marilyn “Nancy” Felix passed away peacefully at the age of 95 at her home in Severna Park, Maryland. Born and raised in New York City, Nancy earned her bachelor’s degree from Mount St. Vincent College in New York, and her master’s degree in education from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut. She married her husband, Barney J. Felix, on October 16, 1958.
Nancy was a lifelong educator. She taught art and elementary education in the New York, New Jersey, and Florida public school systems for almost 40 years. She retired in 1993 from the Haworth School in Haworth, New Jersey where she shared her love of learning with her students for over 20 years. An avid reader, Nancy especially enjoyed American history, particularly the Revolutionary War era. She appreciated art, music and literature and shared those passions with her young students.
Nancy is survived by her loving daughter Nancy Mangan and devoted son-in-law Mike Mangan, her beloved sister and lifelong friend Dr. Jeanne Adams, her cherished grandsons Patrick Mangan and Connor Mangan, and granddaughter-in-law Camilla Shanley. In addition, she leaves behind dear and treasured friends Rick and Catherine Cassata, as well as her friends and caregivers at Brightview Severna Park. She is also survived by many caring nieces and nephews. Nancy was predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Barney J. Felix, on September 30, 1985.
