Marilyn (Jollotta) Degifico, 79, passed away with family by her side Saturday, February 6, 2016 in Portland. She was born October 27, 1936 in Boston, MA to Frank & Mary (Dooner) Jollotta. She grew up in Portland and attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and graduated from Portland High School in 1955. Marilyn loved to sing and as a young girl performed at talent shows held during intermission at the Strand Theater.
Her career included work as a certified physical therapy aide, personal care assistant, and licensed cosmetologist but the role of devoted mother and friend was what was most important to her.
Mom was a sweet, classy, beautiful lady who put her family’s needs ahead of her own but did so with a twinkle in her eye and laughter in her voice. She was a wonderful cook who delighted in having family over for her “famous” lasagna. She had an unwavering faith in God and was a parishioner at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for over 50 years.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Frank Sr., sister, Elaine Robinson, and grandson, Robert Gallant.
She is survived by daughter, Diana Stack of Portland; son, Michael Stack and his wife Holly of Gorham; daughter, Cheryl Stack and her fiancé Eric of Portland; son, Frank Degifico Jr. of Portland; daughter Karen Lague and her husband Sean of Gorham; granddaughters, Cheryl Gallant, Alexis Stack and Shelby Stack; 4 great-grandchilden and many nieces and nephews.
