Marie S. Groner, 85, of Hermann, Missouri, formerly of Berger, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City, Missouri.

Mrs. Groner was born in Berger, Missouri on October 22, 1926, the daughter of the late Peter I. and Lorene (Wilding) Meyer.

She was the widow of George S. Groner. They were married on October 19, 1946 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Berger.

Marie was a member of St. Paul’s Church, Berger, Missouri, where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality. She was a member of the Secular Order of St. Francis, and T.E.C. She was very active in the Washington Deanery, Birthright and hospice programs and she was very involved in her husband’s seed and fertilizer business. She enjoyed traveling, bird watching, riding horses, gardening, sewing and she was a life long learner, even in her final days she continued to read and learn and she was a homemaker.

Marie is survived by a son Bob Groner & wife Jeanne of Berger, daughter Mary Ann Vaughan & husband Chuck of Jefferson City, daughter Betty Fast & husband Dan of Jefferson City, daughter Carol Schaefer & husband Don of Hermann, daughter-in-law Marian Groner of Hermann, daughter Theresa Groner & husband Rob of Hallsville, daughter Paula Bunde & husband Brad of Overland Park, Kansas, two sisters Anna Rouse & husband Jim of Berger and Rita Weber & husband Tony of Hermann, sister-in-law Shirley Lanwermeyer & husband Wayne of Washington, 22 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Roger Groner, two grandsons Eric Vaughan & Andy Schaefer, two brothers Father Gasper & Peter J. Meyer and a sister Terry Jones.
