We thank God for the wonderful life of Marie Wells, who passed away at 10:40 pm Sunday May 12, 2019, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St.Louis, MO.
Marie was born on January 24, 1937, in Perry MO to Henry M. Peer and Ida Belle Marshall. On May 12, 1960, she was united in marriage to Francis E. Wells at the Perry Baptist Church. He survives her.
Marie peacefully stepped into eternity with Jesus Christ on her 59th wedding anniversary and Mother’s Day. We celebrate her life as a beautiful and lovely wife and mother.
Marie graduated from Perry High School in 1957. She retired as an office manager from Golden Eagle Distributing in 1999. She also worked part-time for Swiss Colony and Poage Auto Center.
Marie was a long time member of Fifth Street Baptist Church in Hannibal MO where she really enjoyed her brown bag Bible study. Marie was an active member of the Light House Chapter 194 of the Order of the Eastern Star for fifty-four years. She held the position of Grand Esther in 1991, and served as District Deputy two times and Worthy Matron on numerous times.
Marie loved to be outdoors! It was never too hot or cold for her to be working in her flower beds and garden, while keeping the area birds well fed. Some of Marie’s fondest moments were spent on the beach where she loved to collect seashells. Marie was also an avid collector of fairy lamps and was a wonderful cook who loved trying new recipes.
Marie is survived by her husband, Francis E. Wells of the home; daughter, Jeana Williams (Steve) of Blue Springs, MO, and son, Chris Wells (Lisa) of Edwardsville, IL; six grandchildren, Amanda Fuller (Sean), Bryce Williams (Jenni), Nathan Williams, Alison Williams, Thaddeus Wells and Ezekiel Wells; three great grandchildren, Kennedi Williams, Brynlie Williams, and Kendall Fuller. Marie has one surviving brother: David Peer (Lois) of Sarasota FL and one surviving sister, Violet Wright (Jerry) of Columbia MO.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward Ledford, Chester Ledford, Frank Ledford and Robert Peer and two sisters, Dorothy Weber and Mary Kusley.
