Marie “Joan” (Deban) Laham of Roslindale, formerly of Brighton, passed away peacefully at her home on February 20, 2023. She was 88 years old.
Joan was born August 30,1934, the oldest of Fred and Rose (Mudarri) Deban’s children. She was a kind and caring mother who, while raising her family, also worked for the Boston Public Schools as a librarian and reading teacher, retiring in 1993. Joan was an active parishioner of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in West Roxbury and sang in the choir for more than 25 years. She was an avid traveler, who traveled the world with her family, and her loving husband Richard. Above all else, Joan was happiest surrounded by her family.
Joan lived a full life. She raised a family, served the community and held a strong faith in God and the Church. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
Joan was the dear and devoted wife of over 55 years of the late Richard Laham. Loving mother of Richard F. Laham and his wife Dr. Lorraine of Walpole, Donna Laham and her husband Mitchell Blocker of Colorado, Bruce Laham and his wife Christina of Stow and Mark Laham of Falmouth. Cherished grandmother of Eliana, Ava and Ian. Dear sister of Priscilla A. Deban of West Roxbury, Gerald E. Deban of Hyde Park, Anthony F. Deban of West Roxbury and the late Fares G. Deban. She is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
