Marian Elizabeth White

Age 94, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2014. She was born on August 28, 1919 the daughter of Gordon and Nell (Scheurer) White. Marian earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Wayne State University in Education and was in the teaching profession for over 30 years. She taught at several schools in the Detroit area. Marian went to the University of Michigan while teaching English and earned another Masters Degree of Library Science and finished her career at Redford High School. She spent her summer vacations traveling around the world, or teaching Library Science at several universities in New Hampshire, Florida and Texas. In retirement she volunteered to work and was a member on the Birmingham American Association of University Women, where she assisted with the annual book sale. She is also remembered for the two successful editions of the High Interest-Easy Reading, sponsored by the National Council Teachers of English.
