Age 90, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2007. She was born on July 12, 1917 in Wheatfield Twp., the daughter of Roy and Cora (Parker) Thurber. Mrs. Logel worked for the Michigan School for the Blind and also worked for J.W. Knapp as manager of the gift wrapping department. She enjoyed her flowers and was very proud to take everyone of her grandchildren to nursey school. Her greatest love in life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Louis in 1959, brother Russell Thurber and a sister Bernice Jackson. Surviving are her children Linda (James) Smith of Portland, Mary Jo Browers of East Lansing and Douglas (Noreen) Logel of Portland; grandchildren Julie (Scott) Hughes, Pam (Phillip) Hill, Steven (Sara) Smith, James E. Smith, Michelle (Bob) Sober, Christopher (Staci) Browers, Brian (Nancy Niswonger) Browers, Douglas (Amy) Logel, Jr., David and Bradley Logel; Great Grandchildren Emily and Edward Hill, Samantha Smith, Wyatt Browers, Joseph and Shelby Sober, and Allison Logel; sister Helen Sheski of Mesa, AZ; special dog, Rudy. Funeral Services will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Marilyn V. Danielson at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 13, 2007 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. Interment will be Summitt Twp. Cemetery, Williamston. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Portland and Williamston Senior Centers or to the Portland Community Fund in memory of Mrs. Logel. Special gratitiude to Mike and Kacie Shaw and their family for the care given to our mother.
