Age 87, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2009. She was born on June 21, 1921 in Ionia the daughter of John H. and Bertha (Antcliff) Schlosser. Mrs. Whipple grew up in Ionia where she worked for Associated Truck Lines as a depot manager and semi driver during World War II. She then worked for Meijer Inc. as a cashier and earned cashier of the year award. She also worked in the corporate office for Meijer as an assistant buyer. It was there she met her husband Lloyd who also worked for Meijer from 1946 – 1992. They married on August 29, 1953. Marguerite and Lloyd then moved to Greenville in 1959 where they founded L and M Ice Company. They moved to the Traverse City area in 1977 after Lloyd was transferred to the Meijer store there. Marguerite was involved in many clubs while in Traverse City and had many good friends. After her husband passed away, Marguerite moved to Plainfield, Illinois and then to Independence Village in White Lake, MI to be near her son. Her time in White Lake was spent going to all the activities she could do and also going to bingo on Friday nights.
