Margie Dantzler Ermis died peacefully in Marietta, GA on May 3, 2018 at the age of 96.

Margie is lovingly remembered and survived by Jeanie Ermis Hamm, daughter (Marietta, GA); her sister Lula Mae (Lou) Dantzler Snipes (Lucedale, MS), grandchildren Aaron Dantzler Day (Brooklyn, NY) and Michele Lynn Jordan (Marietta, GA); great-grandchildren Taylor Ann Jordan, Alyssa Jordan, Connor Day, and Vivian Day.

Margie was born in Moss Point, MS on April 22, 1922. She graduated from Moss Point High School. She was one of the first employees hired at the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery when it first opened in 1963. She eventually retired from the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery after many years of dedicated service.

Margie always enjoyed her years in Moss Point both as a child and an adult. Despite the many other places that she lived, she always referred to Moss Point as her home. She was proud of her heritage. She would speak to the early years about the mill plant and its influence on the people and value to the town. But what she most proudly spoke of was the many people and acquaintances she knew from Moss Point that she met throughout her life’s journey. In August 2005 when Hurricane Katrina came ashore, Margie evacuated to Marietta, GA where she lived her remaining years near her daughter, Jeanie.

Margie was often described as a “firecracker”, even through her final days. Her time during her retirement years was spent volunteering in her community to make life better for others. She was always happy when she was helping others. She always enjoyed being around people who liked to laugh.

Margie lived her entire life as a proud American and was always quick to speak out in defense of the nation’s greatness and the soldiers that so dutifully served in America’s military.
