Margaret Hain of Sherwood, ND passed away at the Warroad Care Center on December 4, 2007 at the age of 87.
Margaret, the daughter of James and Bessie (Waldo) Hazelton, was born at Sherwood, ND on June 10, 1920. She attended school there and graduated from high school in 1938. She attended Minot State Teacher’s College for two years and received her Standard Teaching Certificate. She taught in Towner, ND for two years.
She was united in marriage to Merl Hain on June 10, 1944 at Sherwood. They farmed in Renville County, rural Sherwood, first in Colquhoun Township and later in Hamerly Township. They retired in 1990.
She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Methodist Ladies Aid.
Margaret enjoyed her vegetable garden and canning produce for the winter months. She also enjoyed handwork of any kind, especially sewing and sewed extensively for her family. She also collected old dishes.
Merl passed away in October, 1992. She continued to spend time on their farm during the summer months and the winter months were spent in Sherwood. She moved to the Warroad Care Center in June, 2002.
She is survived by her daughters, Treva Bergan of Williams, MN and Melany Klotz of Yuma, AZ; two grandchildren, Gordon Bergan of Baudette, MN and Kendra Bergan of Warroad, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister and one brother.
