Bath – Manley E. Lane, of Bath, died on January 8, 2015 from a long illness. His passing is mourned by his family and many friends.
He was born on December 12, 1943, in Howland, Maine, the only son of Adrian and Thelma (Shorey) Lane. Having pastored for nearly 45 years he began his pastor ship at the young age of nineteen at the Community Church in Unity Maine, followed by two and one half years at the First Baptist Church in Sedgwick, Maine. He and his wife spent three years as missionaries on the Island of Curacao in the Netherlands Antilles. Upon returning to Maine he pastored the Bible Baptist Church in Wiscasset for nine years. He and his wife then moved to Bath where he started and pastored the Open Bible Baptist Church for nearly twenty five years.
Pastor Lane was predeceased by both of his parents.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Brenda L. Lane of Bath, one son, Scott A. Lane of Edgecomb, three daughters, Mrs. Laurie Spear and her husband Jonathan of Wiscasset, Lisa M. Lapointe of Bath, Miriam J. Cook of Sabattus; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Pastor Lane’s love for God touched many lives not only in the Bath area but around the world.
