Mae Eunice Shead Howell was born February 4, 1947, in Marshall County, MS to the late Matthew Shead and Birdella “Dude” Brisco Shead.
She departed this life on December 31, 2022. She was the 4th of 7 siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers (Henry Lee Shead and Matthew Shead), and her sister, Lametrice Moss.
Mae Eunice accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and joined the Bell Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Chulahoma, MS. During her early years she sang in the choir. She graduated from Byhalia High School in 1969. She later attended Rust College. She worked at The Marshall County Care Inn for many years and in Senatobia, MS. She also worked at the ICS Whitaker Head Start in Byhalia, MS as a bus monitor and assisted in the classroom. She was a loving caring woman who never met a stranger and was loved by many. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Charles Howell and they raised three children until his death.
Mae leaves to cherish two daughters, Della Smith (John) of Milwaukee, WI and Tommerria Ross (Ronnie) of Southaven, MS and one son, Darryl Shead of Horn Lake, MS; one sister, Jennifer Shead of Holly Springs, MS, two brothers, Sherry Lee Shead (Pam) of Milwaukee, WI, and Alexander Shead (Beverly) of Senatobia, MS; She has eight grandchildren, Shatrick Mays, Tia Smith, Diamond Hearn, Tatyanna Smith, Hannah Hearn, Emmanuel Hearn, Tiara Smith and Emily Medlock; one special friend, Mr. Ulysse “US” Chandler of Phebia, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
