Mabel Viona Turnbough, 88, of New Haven, MO passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at the New Haven Care Center. She was born October 6, 1919 in Shoal Creek, MO to Franklin and Bertha (Gilliam) Lefler. On May 6, 1940 in Potosi, MO, Mabel was united in marriage to Ralph Turnbough who preceded her in death on September 11, 1981.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one daughter, Barbara Price and husband Richard of New Haven, MO; one sister, Madeline Cooper of Viburnum, MO; two grandchildren, David Price and wife Laurie of Washington, MO and Kathleen Dillon and husband Dean of St. Charles, MO; five great-grandchildren, Kevin Eck, Megan and Mallory Dillon and Maxwell and Leah Price; three sisters-in-law, Virginia, Beulah and Mary Lefler; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph, five brothers, Lathan, Clyde, Freeman, Haskell and Edwin Lefler; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Lefler and Mildred Snow; two brothers-in-law, Don Cooper and James Ed Snow.
Mabel lived in Ferguson, MO for many years and then later moved to be with her daughter in New Haven.
During WWII, she worked in a small arms factory and later Mabel worked in the toy department at Famous Barr for twenty-five years.
While living in Ferguson, she was a member of the Hazelwood Baptist Church and in later years attended the Faith Baptist Church in Washington, MO.
Mabel enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Jolly Quilters in Ferguson for several years. She could often be found cooking for her grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
