Mabel Elizabeth Soder, 88, Makinen, died peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2014.
She was born February 18, 1925 in Deerwood, MN to Hjalmar and Minda (Vang) Hogstrom.
Mabel graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School in 1943 and was united in marriage to Alvin
B. Soder on February 16, 1946.

Mabel, a longtime resident of Eveleth, was a co-owner of Eveleth Auto Parts and an active
member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Midway. For many years, Mabel led a Bible Study for the
residents of the former Arrowhead Nursing Home, Eveleth. Later she led “Hymns With Mabel”
at the present St. Raphael’s Nursing Home, Eveleth, for 11 years.

All who knew Mabel loved her kindness, servant heart and sweet spirit. Mabel was a true
example of a life transformed by the love of Jesus and her desire was that all would come to
know Him as their Lord and Saviour.

She is survived by daughter, Cheryl (David) Yoder, Makinen; Grandson David Marc (Kristine)
Yoder, Claypool, IN and their daughters, Joanna and Jennifer; Grandson Steven Ross (Gina)
Yoder, Buhl, MN and their children, Abigail, Elizabeth, Autumn, Austin, Katelyn, Benjamin, Ava
and Nathan; sister, Mary Lou Rocca, Apache Junction, AZ; Aunt, Betty Vang, Deerwood, MN;
and nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; and siblings Herman, Helen Anderson,
Emil, John and Jennette Slocum.
