Lyle Robert Jeffers, 66, of Steelville, Missouri and recently of Ballwin, MO, passed away suddenly Sunday, January 20, 2008 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, MO. Lyle was born August 3, 1941 in Springfield, IL to Charles Howard Jeffers Sr. and Gleneth (Hankins) Jeffers and united in marriage to Nancy (Schmittler) of Grayville, IL on November 9, 1963

Lyle will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by Nancy, his wife of 44 years; one son, Kyle Jeffers of South Bend, Indiana; one daughter, Melinda Russell and husband Jeff of Chesterfield, Missouri; two grandchildren, Nicole and Christopher Chase Russell of Chesterfield, MO; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Julia Jeffers of Riverton, IL, Mary Jo Baker of Carmi, IL, Arthur and Alice Schmittler of Nashville, IL and Debbie & Skip Turnbull of Athens, IL; nieces, nephews,other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gleneth Louise Jeffers Sr. and two brothers, Charles Howard Jeffers Sr. and Dale Wesley Jeffers and brother-in-law Jack Baker.

A resident of Steelville, MO at the time of his death, Lyle had previously lived in Ballwin, MO from 1977-2007 where he was a self-employed contractor and owner of KNL Construction, Inc. Prior to that he had lived in Springfield, IL where he worked for the State of Illinois, Department of Transportation for fifteen years. Lyle and Nancy were also involved in many other business ventures in Springfield, IL and St. Louis, MO, including The Fireplace Shoppe in Kirkwood and Wellness Therapies in Baldwin. They moved to Steelville, MO in May 2007 and for the last seven months have owned and operated the Frisco Street Bed and Breakfast. In addition to his home, family and work, Lyle enjoyed woodworking, bridge and cribbage.

Lyle was a member of Community Christian Church in Manchester, MO, where he served as an elder, deacon and choir member. He was a past Master of St. Paul’s Masonic Lodge #500 in Springfield, IL.
