Age 92, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2007. He was born on May 16, 1914 the son of Henry and Theresa (Thelen) Schafer. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and founded Schafer heating in 1947. Louis enjoyed farming, antique tractors, machinery, and crossword puzzles. He graduated from Pewamo High School in 1933, and celebrated 65 years of marriage to Annabel (Klein) on October 15, 2006. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, an infant daughter Mary Ann, and grandsons David L. and Patrick J. Schafer. Surviving are his wife Annabel, children Peter (Kay) Schafer of Pewamo, Philip (Ann Marie) Schafer of Westphalia, Bernadette (Walter) Thelen of Westphalia, Larry (Bernita) Schafer of Westphalia, Luke Schafer of Lansing, Patrick (Maureen) Schafer of Westphalia, and Michael (Doreen) Schafer of Westphalia, 21 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, sister Maratha Hauck of Westerville, Ohio, sister-in-law Eleanor Schafer of Westphalia, and several sister and brother-in-laws.
