Lornie Olson, the son of Almedia (Anderson) and John Olson was born on March 27, 1924 in Roseau County. He lived in Spruce Valley, North of Roseau, until 1939 when the family moved to Spruce Township. The farm was in the family from 1938 to 2001 when Lornie and Lorraine sold it and moved into Roseau
Lornie married Lorraine (Ostby) on October 30, 1948. They had two children, Leslie and Lori. They lived on their farm in Spruce Township and farmed and Lornie was also a mail carrier for 20 years on route 1. He retired from farming in 1988.
Lornie liked to work with wood and did a lot of remodeling on the farm and on their cabin at Birch Beach over the years. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He and Lorraine were members at Messiah Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his children Leslie (Renae) Olson of Loveland, CO, and Lori Olson of Roseau; grandchildren, Ryan (Barb) Olson of Meridian, ID, and Derek Olson of Fort Collins, CO; great-grandson Matthew Olson of Meridian, ID; brother Lloyd (Eva) Olson of Roseau; sisters Gladys Markstrom of Roseau, Vivian Markstrom of Thief River Falls, Evelyn Dewing of Salem, OR, and Alice Saxberg of Fresno, CA; and one sister-in-law Inez Olson of Duluth, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Lorraine, brother Lester, infant brother Selmer; brothers-in-law, Leonard Markstrom, Marvin Markstrom, Willard Dewing, and Elvin Saxberg.
