Loren W. Larson, age 85, a lifelong Hibbing resident died Friday, April 5, 2013 at Heritage Manor Health Care Center in Chisholm. He was born March 19, 1928, in Hibbing, the son of Nels A. and Gloria M. (Bebler) Larson, and was a graduate of Hibbing High School. On September 14, 1957 he married Helen Joyce (Hoffman) at First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Loren was a United States Army veteran, serving as a patrol leader during the Korean War. He was employed as a welder for MA Hanna Mining Company – National Steel Pellet Plant in Keewatin until his retirement in 1988. Loren was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Hibbing; Mesaba Lodge # 255 AF&AM in Hibbing; the Scottish Rite bodies; the AAD Temple Shrine; the Range Shrine Motor Patrol; Hibbing Elks Lodge; VFW Post 8510 and the DAV Russo Golob Chapter # 3; and was a former member of the Hibbing Men’s Bowling League. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and hosting holiday and weekend barbeques at the family cabin on White Swan Lake.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Helen; brothers: Arthur Larson and Donald D. (Kazuko) Larson both of Hibbing; brother-in-law: Frank Thomas of Cape Coral, FL; sisters-in-law: Lois Pulis of Hibbing and Clarice (Gil) Gildred of Palm Coast, FL; nieces and nephews: Dale L. (Jaci) Larson, Linda M. (Kenneth) Ray, Daniel L. (Susan) Larson, Gary (Cathy) Pulis, Dale (Jane) Pulis, Linda Johnson, Susan (Brian) Gustafson, Judy Slater, Mark Pulis, Sandy Pulis, Scott (Lelah) Thomas, Gail (Allan) Offeringa, Janet Gildred, Harriet (Michael) Hinson, Nancy (John) March, and DeAnne (Robert) Mortiz; numerous great-nieces and nephews; extended family; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Norman Larson; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Larson, Marjorie Hoffman, and Elaine Thomas; brother-in-law: Victor Pulis; and his nephew: David Pulis.
