Obituary
Lloyd Vincent Murphey, born on September 15, 1943 in St. Louis, passed away on April 6, 2018 in Foristell, MO. Devoted husband of Mary Ellen (née Zimmerman); loving father of Patrick (Melissa), Michael (Laura) and Mary (Bryan); proud grandfather of Gerald, Sean, Caroline, Roger, Matthew, Jack, Luke, Brady and Owen; and dear brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Alma, brothers Paul and Timothy, nephew Alan, sister-in-law Maureen, brother-in-law Carl, and Mary Ellen’s parents Gerald and Marie. He served in the United States Army from 1962-1967, and he was a tireless partner with our mother, both in their marriage and their many joint business ventures, from Hathaway Hardware to LUMMEZ Sales. He was the wisest and most caring father a child could have ever wished for, and a best friend as we grew older. His love for our mother could still make her blush, and they were inseparable. Always up for an adventure, a Nerf gun battle or a snuggle with a good book, he was ever present in his grandchildren’s lives, championing their efforts and interests. Dad, we will always love you and we will rejoice with you in Heaven again one day. You will be in our hearts and in our actions forever. Join us to celebrate his life and legacy: The visitation will be on Tuesday, April 10 from 3 – 8 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home (1545 Wentzville Pkwy, Wentzville, MO 63385). A memorial mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11 at St. Patrick Parish & School (405 S Church St, Wentzville, MO 63385). Interment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Trenton, IL, off of Old U.S. Route 50. Luncheon will will follow at St. Mary’s social hall (behind the church at 218 W Kentucky St, Trenton, IL 62293). In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the Missouri Council of the Blind http://www.moblind.org/donate/ and masses said in his memory would be appreciated.
