Linda DeAnn Anderson, age 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children at 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Hannibal Regional Hospital. Linda was born at home on June 7, 1940, in Corning, Iowa to Paul Connard and Doris Lillian (Hiers) Pennington. She was their only child. She graduated from Corning High School in 1958 and attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO. She married Willard Arlen Anderson in 1960. Linda was a stay at home mom for many years but later worked with her family at both Promotional Images and Steamboat Annieâaa„¢s in downtown Hannibal. She also was a merchandiser for Hallmark Cards until her retirement in October 2010. Linda is survived by her two sons: Mark Arlen Anderson and his wife Diana (née Blankenship) of Gurnee, IL, Kent David Anderson and his wife Tammy (née Oâa‚a„¢Mara) of Hannibal; and her daughter Dana Lynn Blase and her husband Michael of Hannibal. She loved her grandchildren immensely and was so very proud of each one. She was happiest when with them. The grandchildren she loved with all her heart are: Clare Elizabeth Blase and her boyfriend Jay Zanger, Jenna Elizabeth Moore and her husband John Michael, John David Anderson and his wife Carisa LeiAnn, Paul Alexander Anderson who is serving his country in the Air Force and is stationed in South Korea, Leslie Marie Blase, Abby Renee Anderson, Phillip Gray Anderson, Blake Connor Wilkinson, and Melanie Rose Blase. She also dearly loved her great grandson, Luka Nicholas Anderson. Linda was a member of St. Johnâa‚a„¢s Lutheran Church where she participated in prayer shawl ministry, and Chapter JH P.E.O. She became an avid sports fan in her childhood when her father took her to baseball games in Omaha and in Kansas City. She saw some of the greatest players of all time including Mickey Mantle. Before moving to Hannibal in 1974, the Anderson family lived in the Denver, Colorado area. Linda was a longtime fan of both the Denver Broncos and the St. Louis Cardinals. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cross stitch and knitting. However, her favorite activity by far was cheering on her grand-kids and their fellow teammates on the field, court, track and stage. Linda was very touched by the cards and letters of encouragement she received during her battle with breast cancer. The family would like to thank Jeanne Thomas and Nancy Baldwin for their friendship and support over the years. They would also like to thank Dr. Arif Bari, nurses and staff at the James E. Cary Cancer Center as well as the nurses, aides and other staff at Hannibal Regional Hospital for their loving care and support.
