Leon Leverett Straight passed from this life on Saturday, February 11, 2023, he was home and surrounded by the love of his family.
Lee was born in Fredonia, New York on 10/25/31. He was preceeded in death by both parents, Leon L. Straight Sr. and Geniveve L. Straight; his brother Gene Straight, and his loving wife Fern Marie Straight. Leon’s life is celebrated by his two sons, Corey Lee Straight( wife Michelle Miller Straight)of Gautier, MS, and Jeffrey Alan Straight (Brooke Levisay Draper) of Denver CO., his grandchildren Amanda Straight-Dean (Thomas Dean), Cody Straight, Cori Straight, Brandon Straight (Brittney) and Kyle Straight (Mariah). He left a furthering legacy of 7 great grand children.
Lee, as he was known by friends and family, married his love on May 28, 1954, not long after returning from Naval service during the Korean War. Soon after, they made the decision to leave upstate New York and start a new life in California. While in California, Lee worked for and retired from Lockheed-Martin after working in the aerospace industry for over 30 years. Lee and his family loved to camp, fish and enjoyed motorsports. After retirement, he and Fern spent time following the World Of Outlaws race series. They relocated to North Carolina and spent their retirement years enjoying racing and practicing their deep faith. They were members of Lawndale Baptist Church in Lawndale, North Carolina. They both served the Lord in many different capacities over the years and brought live Gospel Sings to the community.
