Leland was born January 10, 1927 in Marshall County, Minnesota to Elmer and Anna Louise Anderson. They lived on a farm east of Alvarado. He received his elementary education at a country school. He graduated from Aakers Business College after which he secured employment in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He then attended and graduated from Christian Workers Institute in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
He met and later married Dolores Hanson on June 9, 1954 in Sioux Falls. They lived briefly in Sioux Falls before moving to the Valley. Leland farmed with his Dad and brother for a time. He also worked for 10 years as business manager at the Alvarado school. He operated Anderson Crop Spraying and farmed on his own until he was joined by his son. Leland was named Master Farmer in 1992.
He was a member of the Assemblies of God Church, council member for Light for the Lost mission program and active in the Valley Migrant Mission during their existence. He was a proud member of the Agassiz Swedish Heritage Society.
Leland enjoyed traveling, being with his family and all things farming.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Dolores, son, Ransel (Dawn) Anderson, Alvarado Minnesota, Rhonda (David) Thompson of Lakeville, Minnesota and Rochelle Anderson of Eagan, Minnesota. Five grandchildren, Bethany (Nathan) Johnson of Bismarck, North Dakota, Timothy (Sarah) Anderson of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Melody (Jacob) Weber of Richfield, Minnesota, Amanda and Philip Thompson of Lakeville, Minnesota, two great grandchildren, Aiden and Grace Johnson. A brother, Harlen W E Anderson of Alvarado, Minnesota, a nephew, Joel (Amy) Anderson, Jacob and Justin of Alvarado and a niece, Jodell (Ruel) Johnson, Ellika and Annika of Moorhead, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Bernice E. Anderson and sister-in-law, Marie Anderson.
