Lelah Laverne Santhuff (nee Fowler) of Steelville, MO was born May 25, 1932 to John Roy and Ruby Laverne (Davis) Fowler in Patterson, MO. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, MO at the age of 78 years.
Lelah married Bob Santhuff on October 14, 1950 and to this union one daughter and two sons were born.
She was well known for her cooking and baking skills. Some of her most favorite dishes included her homemade oatmeal cake, raisin pie and her turkey and dressing.
Lelah was a born-again Christian and a member of Victory Baptist Church. She served her Lord faithfully her entire life.
She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and enjoyed gardening, but the most important part of her life was her family which was everything to her, especially her three grand-daughters. She was very, very proud of them.
Lelah was preceded in death by her parents: father-in-law, Jesse L. Santhuff; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ernest Sullivan, Anna Ruth Fowler, Billy D. Santhuff, Lyman and Shirley Monroe and Ron Bouse; step sister-in-law Barbara Kosa; nephews, Randy Sullivan and Kirk Monroe.
She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Bob Santhuff of the home; one daughter Connie Counts and husband Frank and two sons, Donald Santhuff and John Santhuff and wife Karen all of Steelville, MO; three grand-daughters, Olivia Santhuff, Amelia Santhuff and Alaina Santhuff all of Steelville, MO; one step-grand-daughter, Kim Wallen and two step great -grandsons, Kyle and Cody Wallen all of Steelville; one brother, Lee Roy Fowler and wife Jean of Piedmont, MO; two sisters, Berniece Sullivan of Piedmont, MO and Ruth Hartrup and husband Arthur of Ferguson, MO; sisters-in-law, Pat Santhuff of Piedmont, MO, Delores Goad and husband Don of Cedar Hill, MO, Lori Lee Anderson and Joyce Bouse of Steelville, MO; and one brother-in-law, Ronnie Santhuff of Sinton, TX; other relatives and many friends.
