Lee Tingle, age 52, of Pascagoula passed away on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022 at his residence. He was born November 11, 1970 in Pascagoula to Leon Tingle, Sr. and Brenda Sudduth Tingle. Lee was a lifelong resident of Pascagoula and a member of First Baptist Church. He attended Pascagoula High School (Class of 1990) , Southeastern Louisiana University, William Carey University on baseball and scholastic scholarships. He graduated from WCU in 1995. After graduation, he entered the University of Mobile’s Graduate School of Physical Therapy. He then went on to work at Singing River Health Systems’ In-Patient Clinic for 8 years and worked for Kare-In Home Health for 9 years before opening his own clinic, Physical Therapy Professionals in 2010. He was a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Mississippi Association of Coaches.
Lee was involved with Pascagoula Youth Sports for over 15 years where he enjoyed coaching soccer and baseball and was proud to have traveled the state with all 3 of his children winning local, district and statewide titles. For the past 10 years, he was a member of the baseball coaching staff for Resurrection Catholic School. His coaching highlights include: Starting the RCMHS baseball program, coaching both of his sons (Ty & Trace) to district and South State appearances (2017) and South State Championships (2021 & 2022). In addition, he was selected to coach the East Squad in the South Mississippi High School All-Star Classic in 2017. Lastly, he led RCS to the Mississippi 1A State Championship in 2021 & 2022, bringing home the State Title in 2022. This summer Lee was named Head Coach for the 2023 Eagles. He was honored to coach alongside his former high school coach Johnny Olsen and former teammate Aron Frederic and the coaching staff at RCS. His goals for all of his players were: #1 Love the process, #2 Confidence comes with skill acquisition and #3 Always put team over self. Lee will always be remembered for his leadership on and off the field, his warm smile, infectious laugh, great hugs, welcoming spirit and unwavering compassion. More than anything he was a great husband/father/brother/uncle/son, a great friend and a great listener.
He and his wife loved to travel and always enjoyed making the most of every trip.
Lee is preceded in death by Great-Grandparents: John P & Agnes Tingle of Pascagoula, Ms and Ellis & Emma Shattles Walters of Brooklyn, Ms Grandparents: Amos & Edna (Walters) Tingle of Brooklyn,Ms, and Ralph & LoRae Sudduth of Mobile, Al. Aunts, Uncles & Cousins: Ray & Shirley Smith and Mark Allen Smith (Butchie) of Tillmans Corner, Al, Ed & CeAnn Sudduth of Irvington, Al, and Linda Sudduth & Susan Sudduth of Jackson, Ms.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Melissa; their three children Tayler (Dalton) Stevens of Nashville, Tn, Ty Tingle, Trace Tingle and one grandson, Joseph Stevens. He leaves behind his beloved parents, Leon and Brenda Tingle of Pascagoula, Ms; brother, Greg (Billie) Tingle of Pascagoula, Ms, and nephews, Cole & Jack Tingle; Uncles, Don Tingle and Mike (Tina) TIngle of Pascagoula, Ms and Jim Sudduth of Jackson, Ms. He also leaves behind cherished in-laws, MJ and Davina Hellard Garcia, Brother-in-laws, Brain (Karlyn) Hellard, Chris (Alexa) Garcia and Michael Garcia. Cousins, Lynette (Bob) Stanley, Pam (Ronnie) Paul, Alan (Heather) Sudduth, Jennifer Sudduth, Lindsey Sudduth, Chris (Michelle) Tingle, Brian (Autumn) Tingle, Jenna (Shane) Baber, Micah (Paul) Gatchell and numerous other relatives whom he loved dearly.
In Lee’s short period of illness with CJD, he was always surrounded by family and friends that cared for him deeply. The family appreciates all of the health care providers from Singing River Hospital, Kare-In Home Health & Private Care and Hospice of Light who treated him with love and respect.
Lee had numerous friends and his family is so touched by the love and support of so many.
