Lee Morey, 98, of Roseau died, Monday, May 14, 2007 in the Sheltering Oaks Manor in Roseau, MN. He was born August 21, 1908 to Arley and Marie Morey in Windsor, ND. Lee grew up between Drayton, ND and Robin, MN. He went thru the 5th grade of school. He did several “odd jobs” around that area to help feed the family, working at many farms around North Dakota. He also worked in Duluth, MN in the coal yard for sometime and rode in box cars on the train to travel the country and see the sights.
Lee met and married Olava Ecklund on April 21, 1931 in Thief River Falls, MN, they moved to Warren, MN and he worked on a farm and she as a cook for a large farmer.
In 1936 they purchased a farm of 160 acres in Reine Township; they farmed and had a dairy business until their retirement in 1985. His wife, Olava passed away in August of 1988, and he decided to sell the farm to his grandson and he moved to International Falls, MN.
He got reacquainted again with a long-time friend, Signe Carlson, who he’d known many years earlier and they lived together for 12 years, until her passing away in 2002.
Lee moved in with his daughter until Oct. 2003 and then he decided to live with his son until April of 2004. From there he moved in with his granddaughter until May of 2005 until he could get into the Sheltering Oaks Manor in Roseau.
Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Ovala; three sisters; two brothers, a grandson and great grandson.
Survivors include his daughter, Marian Loken; his son, Floyd Morey both of Skime, MN; his sister, Gladys Fisk of Oakridge, OR; two granddaughters, five grandsons; 23 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
