Lawrence “Larry” David Tilghman, 61, of East New Market passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at his home. He was born in Cambridge on June 2, 1961, and was a son of the late William Irving Tilghman, Jr., and Anna Robbins Tilghman.
He graduated from Cambridge South Dorchester High School as a member of the class of 1979. A highly skilled mason by trade, Larry worked for Allen Tyler and Son, as well as several other employers, and he later began his own construction business. He enjoyed playing the drums, listening to and playing music, gardening, fishing, and crabbing. Larry also built his own home with the same meticulous attention to detail that he brought to his professional work.
He is survived by a daughter, Amanda Tilghman of East New Market, and her mother, Larry’s former wife Lisa Wilcox Tilghman; two brothers, William I. Tilghman III and wife Elizabeth of Bloomington, Indiana, and Paul E. Tilghman of Louisville, Kentucky; a niece, Katherine Tilghman of St. Louis, Missouri; and special friend Penny Fitzhugh of Cambridge.
