Laurence Dadmun, 89 of Lewis Hill Road in Newcastle, beloved husband, father, and Grandfather, passed away peacefully on Friday November 15th, 2013 at Cove’s Edge Nursing Home in Damariscotta. Born in East Stoneham, Maine, he was the son of Herbert and Kathryn Dadmun. Laurence was a Veteran of WWII, and served as a Private Light Tank Crewman in Guadalcanal, Northern Solomon and Luzon. He was wounded and was awarded the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Metal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon w/Bronze Service Arrowhead Victory Metal, Distinguished Unit Badge and the Phil Lib Bronze Service Stars. Laurence help start the Stoneham Rescue, and then joined Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service in Damariscotta, Maine. He was employed as a Rural Carrier at the Edgecomb, Maine Post Office until he retired. He loved hunting, golfing, camping and fully enjoyed spoiling his Granddaughter. He was happily married to his second wife Mildred (Delano) for 23 years. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; his daughter, Susan Dadmun of Newcastle; and his granddaughter, Kathryne Dadmun of Lorton, Virginia. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Henry Shattuck of MA, William Shattuck of MA, June Bourque of Maine, Pamela Raymond of SC, and Patricia Maniscalco of NH.
