Larry Kermit Nelson, age 62 of Lake Vermilion – Tower died unexpectedly, Thursday, April 9, 2015 in the Essentia Health Center-Virginia. He was born July 13, 1952 in Bagley, MN the son of Kermit and Jean (Johnson) Nelson and was a graduate of Eveleth High School Class of 1970. Larry married Marcia Peters on December 5, 1970 in Eveleth and resided in Eveleth until moving to Lake Vermilion in 1991. Together, they owned and operated Ziebart / Z-tech for over 40 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Viet Nam War, and was the recipient of the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Larry was a life member of the Mesaba Range VFW Post # 1172 of Eveleth, and was an active supporter of many veterans’ causes. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and time with friends. Larry’s greatest joy was his time spent with his grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his wife: Marcia Nelson; mother: Jean Nelson of Fayal Twp.; children: Jennifer (Sean) Harris of Lakeland and Jeremy (Shannon Muck) Nelson of Fayal Twp.; grandchildren: Emily Harris, Evan Harris, Drew Nelson, Dylan Nelson, and Beau Nelson; siblings: Terri (Dave Ekern) Nelson, Kathy (Mick Giblin) Nelson of Biwabik Twp., Keith (Lois) Nelson of Fayal Twp. and Pam (Jim) Huot of Palo; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father: Kermit.
