Kermit Norman Williamson was born on August 21, 1927 to Oscar Williamson and Tina “Frances” (Samson). He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush, MN. He was born and raised on the Williamson family homestead one mile south of Greenbush. He graduated from Greenbush High School in 1945. Up on completion of high school, he continued to farm. In 1945, he bought his own farm right across from the homestead. He did drywall work in addition to farming from 1947-1977. From 1977 to 1994, he was employed at American Crystal in Drayton, ND. From 1951 to 1953 he served in the United States Army. He entered into active service on October 10, 1951 in Fargo, ND. He completed his military training at Camp Gordon, Georgia. He served overseas in the Korean War. He was a carrier- repeaterman assigned to wire operation company in Korea. He helped maintain and operate signal communication facilities. He was discharged from active duty on September 22, 1953 at Camp Carson, Colorado. On November 10, 1959, he received an honorable discharge from the United States Army after having served in the Army Reserves for 6 years.

On December 7, 1956 Kermit married Rose Story. They were married at the Moe Lutheran Church in Roseau. Kermit passed away on December 5, 2006 at his home in rural Greenbush surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife, Rose of Greenbush; four children, Brian (Mary) Williamson of Greenbush, Randy (Diane) Williamson of Boyd, MN, Kevin (Kathy) Williamson of Gatzke, MN and Rhonda (Jeffrey) Williamson Olson of Greenbush; nine grandchildren, Kamen Williamson, Laurie Slaathaug, Marcus Williamson, Sean, Andy, David, Emily, Kimberly, and Kristy Williamson; three great-grandchildren, Brylie Williamson and Damon and Aaron Slaathaug; brother, Arvid (Daphne) Williamson of Greenbush; two sisters, Beatrice (Manvill) Dvergsten of Greenbush and Mabel Haugen of Hutchinson, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant sister.
