Kennie C. Pettit, 76, of Delmar, DE passed away on October 5, 2022.

He was the son of the late Vernon and Helen Pettit of Stockton, MD. Ken graduated from Snow Hill High School, and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps between 1965 and 1971. He was a highly skilled aircraft technician for the Phantom Jets that were flown in Vietnam, and was awarded several commendations. He earned the rank of Staff Sergeant.

After returning to Maryland, Ken spent several years in sales and as proprietor of Pettit’s Market in Stockton. Ken enjoyed a long career with Herr Foods serving clients across the lower Shore. After retiring, Ken joined R.C. Hollaway in Salisbury as a part-time delivery driver to offset the high cost of perfecting his golf game.

Always a proud and loving father, Ken is survived by his two sons, Christopher (Krista) of Cambridge, MD, and Chad of Baltimore. He was blessed with two grandchildren Rachel Pettit of Silver Spring, MD and Lance Corporal John Pettit (USMC) of Camp Lejeune, NC, as well as step-grandson Corporal Jared Campbell (USMC) of Milford, DE. Also surviving is his sister Kathy Bounds (Billy) of Girdletree, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ken will be remembered as a man who thrived on hard work, loved his family, was loyal to his friends, and possessed a great sense of humor.
