Obituary for Kenneth Sandland

 United States

  • Date Of Death: September 6, 2006
  • State: Minnesota

Kenneth Sandland went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 in Marion, SD at the age of 94 years, 8 months and 9 days.

He was born on December 28, 1911 to Samuund “S.K.” and Anne Sandland at their homestead farm near Grygla, MN. Kenneth lived his entire life at his birth home with the exceptions of a few years in Polson, MT, 5 trips to Alaska to work for his brothers, and the last 10 months in Marion, SD with his daughter.

On April 11, 1951, Kenneth married his sweetheart, Ina Jacobson of Wannaska, MN. While he enjoyed his farm and especially loved animals, his real interest was timber. He liked sawing lumber on his sawmill and doing carpentry work. He loved fishing, baseball, and traveling, but nothing could compete with hunting. He bagged his last deer just 10 months before his death. He will be most often remembered for his sharp memory and his incredible story telling.

In 1946, Kenneth gave his life to Jesus Christ when he heard a sermon about Christ’s second coming. This became his life’s passion, to tell everyone how to be saved and to be ready for Christ’s coming. While bedridden in his last days, he witnessed to everyone about his Jesus. He loved music and especially listening to his kids sing. Their music comforted him to the very last day.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arthur, Henry and infant brother, Harold. He is survived by his dear wife, Ina; three sons, Keith (Rosanne) Sandland, Arlen (Diane) Sandland, and Tim Sandland; three daughters, Karen (Ken) Dalke, Lou Sandland, and Nancy Eklund; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, one special sister, Thelma (Bud) Carpenter; 2 sister-in-laws, Verna Sandland and Hazel Brown; many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
