Kenneth Samuel “Trapper” Birk, 70, of Gasconade, Missouri, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2012 at Landmark Hospital, Columbia, Missouri.

Mr. Birk was born in Morrison, Missouri on March 1, 1941, the son of the late Irvin F. and Leta Ann (Stephan) Birk.

He was the husband of Jana (Blankenship) Birk. They were married in 2003 at St. James U.C.C., Morrison, MO. She survives in Gasconade.

Kenneth is also survived by two step-daughters Tresa Knapp of Colorado and Mary Baldwin of Jefferson City, a brother Bradley Birk & wife Jeanette of Morrison, five step grandchildren, one niece and two great nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Ruth (Schneider) Birk, she passed away on January 25, 1991.

Kenneth worked as a welder for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a member of St. James United Church of Christ, Morrison, Missouri, the Hermann Eagles and was the chief of the Morrison Fire Dept. for many years, which he took very seriously. He loved hunting, fishing, trapping and his dog Rocky.
