Lifelong Mankato resident, Kenneth H. Anderson, age 96, passed away at his home on September 11, 2022.
Ken was born in Mankato to Herbert and Mary (Holzapfel) Anderson on November 20, 1925. He was a graduate of Mankato High School. During WWII, he proudly served in the Pacific Theater aboard the USS Kenneth Whiting as a hospital corpsman. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Mankato and met his future wife, Lois Anderson, at the Kato Ballroom. They were married on December 6, 1947 in New Ulm. For over twenty-eight years, he was employed as a route salesman for Leef Bros. Inc, retiring in 1987. During retirement, he and Lois spent winters in Mission, Texas, and summers on multiple golf courses. Ken was a very social guy, who loved golf, bowling, a good joke, and any opportunity to engage in spirited, and many times, lengthy conversation. He was a member of American Legion Post 11 and The VFW Post 950.
Ken is survived by his children: Sharon (Brad) Borresen, Brenda (Randy) Baud, and Keith Anderson; his four granddaughters: Abby Weber, Lindsey Koterba, Kirsten Cegla, and Erica Borresen-Birek; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois E. Anderson; parents, Herb and Mary Anderson; brother, Lloyd Anderson; sister-in-law, Lois C. Anderson; and in-laws, Wallace and Elsie Anderson.
A special thank you to the Mankato Lodge staff and Mayo Hospice, for their compassionate care and the endless kindness that was given to our dad and his family.
