Kenneth Dally of Williams passed away on Saturday, October 28 at the Lakewood Hospital in Baudette. He was 82 years old.
Kenneth E. Dally, the son of Elden and Dorothy (Butler) Dally was born on April 12, 1924 in Hiwood, MN. He lived there until he was 12 years old and then moved to Williams, MN, attended Williams High School, and graduated in 1942.
Following High School Ken farmed for a few years and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1945. He served until his honorable discharge on June 30, 1947. Ken and Laverne (Becker) were united in marriage on December 31, 1949. They lived in Williams where Ken commercial fished for some time, and then they moved to the Twin Cities where Ken became a member of the Teamsters Union as a truck driver. He drove for 29 years. During this time they had five children. Ken kept the house in Williams for retirement and summer vacations. After retiring he and LaVerne move back to Williams where they still resided.
Ken loved to deer hunt and fish. He and LaVerne also loved to garden. They had a beautiful garden this past summer. They were members of Bethany Lutheran Church in Williams where Ken also sang in the Bethany choir. Ken said his week didn’t start right unless it started with going to church.
Ken is survived by his wife LaVerne of Williams, five children, Lucile Dally of Andover, MN, Duane Dally (Pat) of Burnsville, MN Marilyn Dally of Coon Rapids, MN, George Dally (Sandy) of Cedar, MN, and Donna Whitehead of St. Francis, MN; three grandchildren, Kenny and Katie Dally, and Julie Whitehead; brother Bert Dally (Virginia) of Merrifield, MN, sister-in-law Lois Dally of Williams, brother-in-law Ken Lang of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and also many nieces, nephews, and friends. Ken is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Maud Anderson, Lois Lang, and brothers Ralph and Lyle Dally.
