Kelly Gordon Monsrud passed away at his home in Roseau on October 10, 2017 at the age of 47. Kelly was born on April 30, 1970 in Bagley, MN to Virginia Swank and Donovin Monsrud. He grew up in Badger, MN on a farm and graduated from Badger High School in 1988. He served for three years in the U.S. Army Reserves as a Medical Clerk. He married Cassy (Bauck) and had two children, Kiegan and Madicyn. He later married Denise Haugen. He worked for Golden Heart Home Health in Medical Billing before moving to Roseau, MN in 1998. He worked in the office for Geroy’s Building Center for 15 years as a GM. In 2015, he started the Kelly Monsrud Music and Technology business until his death.
Music was Kelly’s passion. He taught guitar, drums and vocal lessons. He enjoyed performing music in all type of settings. He wrote and wrote and wrote lyrics and was always creating musically. He will be remembered as a caring, compassionate, kind and selfless person who loved his kids.
He is survived by his son, Kiegan Monsrud of Roseau; daughter, Madicyn Monsrud of Roseau; half-sister, Theresa Donat Sullivan.
