Age 89, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 19, 2010. She was born on March 5, 1921 in Franklin, West Virginia, the daugher of Osce and Minnie (Hedrick) Smith. Kitty was a “Rosie the Riveter” during her early years in Baltimore, Maryland. She enjoyed bingo, painting (especially the color blue), ceramics and gardening. On December 2, 1961 she married Lyle “Bud” Rogers in Ionia and he preceded her in death in 2003. Also preceding her in death are her parents; sister, Merlee (Smith) Bowers and her brother, Estes Smith. Surviving are her nieces, Phyllis Ascue and Pamela (Darrell) Smith; nephew, Douglas Bowers; great nieces, Robin Ascue and Sherry (Alain) Louka; great nephew, Daniel Kronick; 5 great-great nephews and 1 great-great niece, all of Richmond, Virginia; Her loving dog, Benji.
